Staying Healthy and Hydrated During Long Flights

Long-haul flights can be taxing on your body, leaving you dehydrated and fatigued. To ensure a comfortable journey, here are some travel tips for staying healthy and hydrated during those extended hours in the air

Stay Hydrated

Dehydration is a common issue during long flights due to the low humidity in the cabin. Drink plenty of water before and during your flight. Avoid excessive caffeine and alcohol, as they can dehydrate you.

Carry a Reusable Water Bottle

Bring an empty, refillable water bottle with you. After clearing security, fill it up, and sip on water throughout the flight. This not only keeps you hydrated but also gives you an excuse to get up and stretch your legs.

Moisturize Your Skin

The dry air in the cabin can wreak havoc on your skin. Pack a good moisturizer and lip balm to keep your skin hydrated. Don't forget to apply it during the flight.

Eye Drops

Consider bringing lubricating eye drops to prevent dry and itchy eyes, a common discomfort during long flights.

Sleep Smart

If your flight crosses multiple time zones, try to adjust your sleep schedule beforehand. Consider using earplugs and an eye mask to block out noise and light, helping you get better rest.

Sanitizing Wipes

It's a good idea to carry sanitizing wipes. Use them to clean your armrests, tray table, and anything else you might touch, as airplanes can harbor germs.

Avoid Alcohol and Caffeine

Both alcohol and caffeine can dehydrate you. Limit your consumption of these beverages and opt for water or herbal teas instead.

Stretch Regularly

To prevent stiffness and improve blood circulation, make an effort to stretch your legs and walk around the cabin every few hours. Most long-haul flights have designated areas for passengers to do gentle exercises.

Compression Socks

Graduated compression socks can help improve circulation and prevent swelling in your legs and feet during long flights.

Eat Light and Healthy

Opt for light, nutritious meals during your flight. Heavy, greasy food can make you feel bloated and uncomfortable.
